Privacy Policy

Short version: Autorole only collects what it needs to work. Nothing is sold. Nothing is shared with third parties. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
§ 01 Introduction

Autorole is a Discord bot that handles automated role assignment, server utilities, moderation tools, and community management features. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

By adding Autorole to your server or using any of its commands, you agree to this policy. If you run a server with Autorole active, you're also responsible for making sure your members know the bot is present and what it does.

§ 02 What We Collect

We only collect what's needed for the bot to function. Here's a clear breakdown:

TypeWhat exactlyWhy
Server DataServer ID, name, configStore your server's settings
User DataUser ID, username, rolesRole assignment & user features
Command LogsCommand name, timestampRate limiting, abuse prevention
Presence DataStatus or activity infoOnly if status-based roles are on
Message ContentPartial, specific featuresIn memory only — never stored
Not collected: passwords, emails, payment info, IP addresses, or anything outside what Discord's API provides to bots.
§ 03 How We Use It

Every piece of data we collect is used for one purpose: making Autorole work for your server. That means:

  • Assigning and managing roles based on your server's configured rules
  • Storing per-server settings like join roles, logging channels, and command preferences
  • Running moderation features — logs, warnings, auto-actions — when enabled by admins
  • Powering utilities like welcome messages, activity tracking, and server stats
  • Diagnosing errors and preventing abuse to keep the bot stable for everyone

We don't use your data for advertising, selling to third parties, or anything unrelated to running Autorole.

§ 04 Data Retention
  • Server configurations are kept as long as Autorole is active in your server
  • Temporary command logs are purged on a rolling basis, typically within 30 days
  • Message content is only processed in working memory and is never written to any database

When you remove Autorole from a server, we start deleting that server's data within 30 days. You can also request immediate deletion — see § 06.

§ 05 Sharing of Data

We don't sell your data. We don't share it. We don't trade it. Your data exists purely to make Autorole work for you — nothing else.

The only situation where information could leave our systems is a legally valid law enforcement request. In that case, we'd only provide the minimum required by law and notify affected users where permitted.

No third-party analytics services, data brokers, or ad networks have access to anything Autorole collects.

§ 06 Your Rights & Controls
  • Server admins can disable any feature, clear configurations, or remove the bot entirely at any time
  • Any user can request their stored data be deleted or anonymized
  • You can request access to what we hold on you at any time
  • You can request corrections if something stored is inaccurate
  • You can opt out of non-essential features — just reach out

All requests go through our support server. We aim to respond within 72 hours.

§ 07 Security

We take reasonable steps to secure the data Autorole handles — access controls on our database, encrypted connections for data in transit, and regular reviews of our infrastructure.

No system is perfect. If you spot something that looks like a security issue, report it in our support server before disclosing it publicly. We'll act on it quickly.

§ 08 Children's Privacy

Autorole doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, in line with Discord's own minimum age requirement. If you believe a minor has interacted with Autorole in a way that resulted in data collection, contact us and we'll remove it.

Server owners are responsible for making sure their communities meet Discord's age requirements.

§ 09 Policy Updates

This policy may change as Autorole evolves or legal requirements shift. When we make meaningful updates, we'll post an announcement in our support server and update the review date on this page. For significant changes, we'll give at least a week's notice before they take effect.

Continuing to use Autorole after an update means you accept the revised policy.

§ 10 Contact

Got a question or want to submit a data request? Reach out — we'll get back to you.

Terms of Service

Effective July 23, 2025
Reviewed January 2026
6 min read
The gist: Use Autorole the way it's meant to be used — to help your server run smoothly. Abusing the bot, spamming it, or using it to harm others will get you removed. Server admins are on the hook for how it's configured in their community.
§ 01Agreement

By adding Autorole to a server, running any of its commands, or interacting with any of its features, you agree to these Terms. This applies to everyone — server owners, admins, moderators, and regular members.

If you don't agree, remove Autorole from your server and stop using it. Continuing to use the bot means you accept these terms as they stand.

§ 02What Autorole Does

Autorole is a Discord bot built to help server owners and admins manage their communities. Core features:

Automated Role AssignmentJoin Roles Reaction RolesModeration Tools Server LoggingWelcome Messages Server UtilitiesActivity Tracking

Features can change as the bot develops. We may add, update, or remove functionality at any time.

§ 03Eligibility
  • Be at least 13 years old, per Discord's minimum age requirement
  • Have a Discord account in good standing, not banned from the platform
  • Have the right server permissions wherever you're adding or configuring the bot
  • Follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines

We reserve the right to block access to anyone who doesn't meet these requirements or has a history of abuse.

§ 04Using the Bot Fairly
  • Use it only for its intended purpose — managing and improving Discord communities
  • Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the bot's source code or internal logic
  • Don't look for bugs to exploit — if you find something broken, report it instead
  • Don't run scripts or automation that sends commands at an abnormal rate
  • Don't deliberately try to crash, slow down, or degrade the bot's performance
§ 05Bot Abuse

These behaviors directly abuse Autorole as a service and can result in immediate, permanent removal of access without warning:

  • Command flooding: Sending large volumes of commands in a short period, manually or through scripts, in a way that degrades performance for others
  • Exploit abuse: Using a discovered bug for personal gain or to cause harm instead of reporting it
  • Self-bot interactions: Using a self-bot or automated account to interact with Autorole outside of normal usage
  • Impersonating staff: Pretending to be part of the Autorole team to deceive users or gain elevated trust
  • Unauthorized reselling: Selling, renting, or presenting Autorole as your own product or paid service
  • Infrastructure attacks: Any attempt to attack, probe, or disrupt the servers and systems Autorole runs on
Zero tolerance: Infrastructure attacks and deliberate exploit abuse will be reported to Discord's Trust & Safety team alongside our own enforcement.
§ 06Admin Responsibilities
  • You're responsible for how the bot is configured in your server and the outcome of those configurations
  • Your server's use of Autorole needs to follow Discord's guidelines and laws relevant to your community
  • If you enable features that affect your members — like logging or tracking — let them know
  • Don't configure Autorole in ways designed to target, harass, or discriminate against users or groups
  • Misuse that happens under your server's configuration is your responsibility
§ 07Uptime & Availability

Autorole is provided as-is with no guaranteed uptime. We work to keep it online and reliable, but maintenance, Discord outages, or unexpected issues can cause downtime. We'll announce planned maintenance in our support server when possible.

We're not liable for disruptions caused by outages or technical failures outside our control.

§ 08Ownership & IP

Autorole — its name, branding, code, commands, and all related systems — belongs to its developers. You're granted permission to use it as a service. You're not given any ownership over it.

  • Don't copy, redistribute, or fork Autorole's code without written permission
  • Don't use the Autorole name or branding to promote anything unrelated to the official bot
  • Don't build a competing bot and present it as Autorole or claim any affiliation

Your server's content — role names, messages, configurations — remains yours.

§ 09Liability

To the extent the law allows, the Autorole team is not responsible for any damages arising from your use of the bot — including data loss, service interruptions, misconfigurations, or actions by other users within Discord servers.

You use Autorole at your own discretion. If something doesn't work as expected, contact our support team first.

§ 10Suspension & Bans

We can restrict or permanently revoke access to Autorole for any server or user that violates these Terms:

  • Minor issues: A heads-up and a request to fix the problem
  • Repeated violations: Temporary removal of bot access from the affected server
  • Severe abuse: Permanent ban from Autorole, and a potential report to Discord

For serious violations we may act without a prior warning. Appeals can be made through our support server.

§ 11Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Autorole grows. When we do, we'll post an announcement in the support server and update the review date on this page. For anything major, we'll give at least a week before changes take effect.

Continuing to use Autorole after an update means you accept the new version.

Acceptable Use

Effective July 23, 2025
Reviewed January 2026
3 min read
What this is: The Acceptable Use Policy sits alongside the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. It's a practical look at what fair and unfair use actually looks like day to day.
§ 01What This Covers

This policy defines what counts as fair and unfair use of Autorole in practice. If something isn't listed but clearly goes against the spirit of these guidelines, we can still act on it. It applies to everyone — admins and regular members alike.

§ 02What Autorole Is Built For
  • Automatically assigning roles when members join your server
  • Setting up reaction role menus so people can pick their own roles
  • Logging moderation actions to keep your team accountable
  • Automating welcome messages, goodbye notices, and announcements
  • Giving admins and moderators better tools to manage their communities
§ 03What's Not Allowed
  • Targeted harassment: Using Autorole to single out, demote, or isolate specific users in a harmful or malicious way
  • Spam: Configuring the bot to flood channels, DMs, or other bots with repeated messages
  • Discriminatory configurations: Building role systems explicitly designed to exclude or demean people based on who they are
  • Deception: Using the bot to mislead members about what's happening in their server
  • Load abuse: Scripting interactions in ways that put unnecessary strain on infrastructure
  • Illegal activity: Using any Autorole feature to help organize, hide, or enable anything illegal
§ 04When You're Not Sure

Not every situation is clear cut. If you're unsure whether something is okay, ask yourself: would a reasonable person look at this configuration and think it was designed to cause harm? If yes, it's probably not okay.

If you're genuinely unsure, just ask us. We'd rather answer a question than issue a ban. We're not here to micromanage how you run your server — we just want to make sure Autorole isn't being used to hurt people.

§ 05Reporting a Violation

If you think a server or user is violating this policy, bring it to us. Include the server name, a description of what's happening, and any screenshots you have. We investigate every report.

Submitting a false report in bad faith can result in action against the person who filed it.

Report a ViolationOpen a ticket in our support server and we'll handle it
§ 06Enforcement
  • Minor or first-time issues: A direct message or warning, with a request to fix the problem
  • Repeated violations: Temporary suspension of Autorole access in the affected server
  • Serious abuse: Permanent ban from Autorole across all servers, and a potential report to Discord's Trust & Safety team

For serious situations we may skip straight to a ban. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal in our support server.
